Tamara L. Fleischhaker
Ocala Metro Chamber & Economic Partnership (CEP)
I am the VP of Business Advocacy and Partner Services for the Ocala Metro Chamber & Economic Partnership (CEP). In this role, I engage our elected and appointed officials on the legislative issues that can enhance or restrict our business climate. I also oversee the programs and services that support, connect, and train our partners, ensuring that they receive value for their investment.
I moved to Ocala in April of 2006 to work for the CEP and fell in love with this community. My professional background includes communications, marketing, account management, and public policy. I also have over 25 years of festival and event management experience with various international festivals and events.
I believe in giving back to the community, with one of my roles outside of work is serving as a member of the Friends of the Christmas Parade organization which produces the largest nighttime Christmas parade in the state of Florida…right here in Ocala. I have a strong passion for the programs and organizations that help our seniors live their best life and am proud to be on the board for the Senior Resource Foundation of Ocala.
I have always had an aspiration to help others. I spent four years on active-duty service with the United States Navy Medical Corp and my training involved a lot of counseling and evaluation of many forms of social and psychiatric conditions.
Going further, it was to my joy that my husband’s podiatrist practice served a lot of senior patients and gave me the rewarding opportunity to continue working with the senior community. Very hard worker and a quick learner, these talents enabled me to help my husband get his private practice up and running. Though I had not planned to work in his practice for the long term, we soon realized that our individual strengths balanced so well that I remained in the practice as Office Manager for thirty years.
I am also a mother to two kids, I volunteered to chaperone events, attend ball games, and bake goodies for fundraisers. I love to be busy, and I want to use my time and talent to help and serve others.
I am Marketing Manager for AdventHealth Ocala. In this role, I am responsible for marketing the hospital’s service lines, managing internal communications and branding, in addition to community partnerships and engagement. Prior to joining AdventHealth in 2019, I was Vice President of Resource Development at the United Way of Marion County. I have held prior positions at Virtua Health Foundation in Marlton, New Jersey, and Temple University and University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
My husband, John, and I, are proud parents to twins, Ben and Grace, who are currently in elementary school. I enjoy running, kayaking, traveling and trying to improve my golf game. I am excited to be on the board, so I can make a difference for area seniors, particularly those in need.
Mid-Florida Agencies – Florida Blue
I have always had it in my heart to help people, especially my elders. I enjoy listening to their experiences and seeing their perspectives on life.
Furthermore, I moved to Ocala in 2001. A mother of two children and two (plus one soon) grandchildren, I made this Ocala my home. I am a proud ambassador for the Ocala/Marion County Chamber & Economic Partnership, the #1 National Chamber of the Year 2020.
Previously, I was in the hospitality industry since 1990. However, my son encouraged me to become an insurance agent, and I am loving the fact that I get to educate interested people on their health insurance options.
Florida Blue – Medicare
My prior career was concentrated on management, marketing, and sales for almost thirty years. Now retired, my passion is blogging, networking, and volunteering in Central Florida. In fact, I engage in various committees and local charities in the community, so I am always on the go, specially in my capacity as the marketing and webmaster for the Senior Resource Foundation of Ocala.
For my education, I graduated from the University of Chicago in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. I went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from Emory University in 1989. Additionally, I completed three certificates in information technology.
Family’s Choice Electrical Repair
I was born and raised in Ocala, where my wife and I, Heather, still reside. I understand the value of hard work, and I am now a successful entrepreneur with my own electrical company. My heart is in my hometown, and I serve on a number of boards. I am ready to work with the Senior Resource Foundation of Ocala to improve the lives of seniors.
